G'Day from AACC President, Jackie Yuen

Dear Members and Friends,
With Spring in the air, I trust that you are all well and looking forward to some fun plans to enjoy the warmer weather.
We’ve had a busy month, hosting 2 events and planning for Anzac Day. Melissa, our new ED, is settling into her new role and finding her rhythm.
Our Aussie Club gathering at the Accenture office on March 31 was focused on the US Government’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) 2022 and the implications for supply chain entities involved in the planned deployment of low emissions energy projects. Moderated by Cameron Briggs, Origin Energy (and AACC Board Member), our guest speakers included Dr Adam Best, Principal Research Scientist, CSIRO, visiting from Melbourne, and from the Bay Area, Akshay Honnatti and Cliff Tegel from EY and Swen Mehta from Accenture. Our guests included representatives from various tech companies, Australian Federal and State Governments and Legal firms. The discussion centered on supply issues, role of innovation and tax implications and how Australian companies may benefit from the IRA Act over the long term. Although a complex topic, all our speakers were enlightening and exemplified the benefits of connecting relevant participants.
To switch gears, our other event was the Penfolds Master Class hosted at the offices of our friends at Withers Worldwide. Charlotte Rawa, Penfolds Senior Luxury Brand Ambassador, led us through the class that started with Penfolds Thienot Rosé Champagne and included Yattarna Chardonnay, RWT Bin 798 Shiraz and the hard-to-find Bin 138 Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro. The pinnacle was tasting the Grange 2018 that was savored by all.

NASA Leadership DownUnder
|
|
Even though they had both orbited around the planet many times as astronauts, it was a long journey from Washington DC to Canberra for NASA’s leadership team.
NASA Administrator (senator and one-time astronaut), Bill Nelson and NASA Deputy Administrator (and career astronaut), Col. Pamela Melroy were on a two-week journey to the other side of the planet to interface with the space agencies of Australia and New Zealand.
The Australian leg of the tour started at the Australian Space Agency’s headquarters in Adelaide, where, among a string of meetings and briefings, they launched the National Indigenous Space Academy, providing internships for indigenous students at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California.

United Announces Largest South Pacific Expansion in Aviation History
|
|
United Airlines today announces the largest South Pacific network expansion ever to and from the continental U.S., including the first non-stop flight between San Francisco and Christchurch set to commence on December 1. United will be the only carrier to directly connect the U.S. and the South Island of New Zealand. With 66 flights between the US and Australia/New Zealand every week, United will operate nearly 40% more flights from the U.S. to Australia and New Zealand next northern winter versus last year. The carrier is adding new direct flights from Los Angeles to Brisbane and Auckland and increasing service to the region from its San Francisco hub with daily flights to Brisbane, twice daily flights to Sydney and flying larger aircraft to Melbourne. And thanks to United's relationships with Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia, travelers can enjoy easy one-stop connections from these cities to more than 50 destinations in the region.
