G'Day from AACC President, Jackie Yuen

Dear AACC Members and friends,
After spending a very soggy summer in Sydney, I’m happy to be back in San Francisco, and to take part in a very busy April for the AACC.
We were thrilled to host a group of our Business and Benefactor Members at the Australian Retreat at Skywalker Ranch. Our program was a mix of business round tables and social activities and we were delighted our guests were able to make new connections. Ambassador Arthur Sinodinos welcomed our group via video and we were honored to have our Consul General, Nick Nichles kick off the round tables. He was joined by moderators Cameron Briggs of Origin, Catherine Warren of Accenture, Rob Deck and Andrew Chappell of LendLease, all who facilitated some thought-provoking discussions. We thank them and all of our guests for bringing a wonderful energy to our Retreat. Our heartfelt thanks too, to Tom Johnson, Kathryn Ingraham and all the team at Skywalker Ranch, for welcoming us back so warmly and for their exemplary hospitality.
The 10th International Golf Scramble was held at the Presidio Golf Course and 80 players from the AACC, BABC (Brits) and GABA (Germans) enjoyed a sunny day out. There was much merriment with a Penfolds wine tasting on the 11th and 17th holes and by observation the imbibing improved some players’ drives off the tee, while for others, well, there was not a straight drive to be seen! The day ended with dinner and it was great to acknowledge all the winners and to award various prizes. Special thanks to Telstra for their generous Platinum sponsorship for which we’re most grateful!
Our first Sundowner Drinks gathering hosted at the St Regis SF hotel was attended by over 40 guests. It was great to see some friends for the first time in over 2 years and to also welcome some new faces to our group. Our friend Roger Huldi of the St Regis treated us to some delicious appetizers which were an unexpected surprise however, enjoyed by all.
And finally we commemorated Anzac Day in Golden Gate Park, with representatives from the Australian, New Zealand, British and American communities. About 30 friends gathered at Heroes Grove and in a moving service, we were reminded of the sacrifices that were made 107 years ago. None of the Anzacs are with us today, however their spirit lives on in their families and indeed in all Australians who have benefited from the legacy they so bravely left us. Lest We Forget.
It feels good to say that we believe the worst of the Covid pandemic is now behind us. Our return to in-person events has been marvellous and the overdrive in hugs has been most welcomed.
As we start the Spring and Summer season, we have been asked to host more social oriented events to make up for the 2 year hiatus. We have some ideas however, we’d also welcome your suggestions on activities you think would be fun for people to join in. Please share your inspirations with me here or with Dawn here.
Enjoy the coming season of summer and vacations, and for those of you celebrating graduations, etc enjoy the milestones!
As always, thank you for your support and friendship.
With Gratitude,
Jackie Yuen

The Australian Pavilion had the largest international presence that provided the companies an opportunity to showcase Australia’s capabilities in space.
In March, the Australian government announced an almost $1.2 billion Earth Observation program that will be led by the Australian Space Agency in partnership with CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, and Geoscience Australia, the Bureau of Meteorology and Department of Defence.
