You are invited to the 15th Aussie Club Luncheon
Wednesday, June 8th, 2016
12noon – 2pm, Fairmont Hotel, (Garden Room) San Francisco
The Aussie Club is honored to welcome, Mr. Michael Ng, Kobre & Kim LLP
Michael Ng is an internationally accomplished trial lawyer, and head of the San Francisco office and intellectual property litigation practice at Kobre & Kim LLP. He served as lead counsel for Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in connection with CSIRO’s efforts to enforce its patent on the core technology underlying the wireless standards commonly known as Wi-Fi. Australia’s invention of that now-ubiquitous technology has been praised in addresses to the Australian Parliament by world leaders like Britain’s David Cameron and China’s Xi Jinping, and the European Patent Office lauded CSIRO’s legal efforts as “a tremendous success.”
Mr. Ng represents high technology and other companies in a wide range of intellectual property disputes, including trade secret, patent, licensing and copyright cases. He advises clients ranging from startups to mature industry leaders in Australia, Asia, Europe and across the United States. Mr. Ng’s discussion will offer his perspective on cross-border intellectual property issues, with a focus on issues facing Australian companies entering the US market, but also on US companies seeking to collaborate with Australian and other international business partners. Topics will include the new United States statute establishing the first federal protections for trade secrets and measures companies can take to prepare.
About The Aussie Club
The Aussie Club, has established itself as the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier Australian/American business network and forum for senior executives.
The Aussie Club is a partnership of The Australian American Chamber of Commerce and the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts group.
The Patron of The Aussie Club is the Hon. Chris Oldfield, Australian Consul-General and Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner.
The Aussie Club introduces Bay Area senior business executives to prominent Australian business and political leaders through a dynamic program of round-table discussions, panel discussions and speaker series. This program provides unique insights into Australia’s business, economic, political and cultural environments and will provide local business leaders with opportunities to develop new networks and synergies.
The Aussie Club strives to be an independent forum where business leaders who are driving change can exchange ideas, opinions, and viewpoints.
Membership in The Aussie Club will offer a unique forum to network with an exclusive group of senior executives not only based here in the Bay Area but also visiting dignitaries and executives from Australia. Our dynamic programs will feature Australian connections, up-and-coming executives and national business leaders.
The Aussie Club is a non-profit, member only organization, and is open to senior business executives with an interest in Australian business and culture.
It is anticipated that membership will fall into two categories: -
1. C-Level executives from medium to large corporations and
2. CEOs & Presidents of small businesses and entrepreneurial entities
We host quarterly events and expect to hold events in both San Francisco and South Bay/Peninsula locations. Some events may be tailored to one or both of the executive groups.
